Project management and coordination (WP1) has not just the aim to keep the various R&I activities and stakeholders on the same page and aligned with the description of work, but, in the spirit of H2020, the new aim is to define a proper Verification & Validation methodology.

 

User Scenarios, Requirements and Validation (WP2) is industry-led and industry-driven and plays a fundamental role for the success of the project. As indicated by the 5 tussles, product-service design in value chains is a quite complex socio-economic-technical system.

 

Symbiotic engineering-manufacturing collaboration (WP3) symbiotically solves the engineering-production tussle, by defining PLM reference models and knowledge sharing mechanisms, synthesising them in the specification of new collaborative processes and implementing them in a value chain PLM Collaboration Platform.

 

Symbiotic product-service concurrency (WP4) symbiotically solves the product-service tussle, by defining SSME reference models and PLM-SLM interaction mechanisms, synthesising them in the specification of new SLM-PLM knowledge/process interoperable mechanisms and implementing them in a value chain SLM Concurrency Platform.

 

Symbiotic knowledge-sentiment cooperation (WP5) symbiotically solves the knowledge-sentiment tussle, by defining professional knowledge and crowd wisdom management mechanisms, synthesising them in the specification of new cooperative product-service design processes and implementing them in a value chain KM Cooperation Platform.

 

SOA-EDA Secure IT for Manufacturing Intelligence (WP6) symbiotically solves the SOA-EDA technical tussle, by defining three main topics to be studied and developed (privacy-security-trust, IoT and semantic interoperability) and implementing them in a conclusive value chain Symbiotic Real-Digital World interconnection Platform for Manufacturing Intelligence in product-service design value networks.

 

Symbiotic business-innovation strategy in product-service design (WP7) symbiotically solves the business-innovation tussle, by defining three main topics to be studied and developed (product-centric industrial models, service-centric new business models and product-service testing and simulation models) and implementing them in a conclusive collaborative model in product-service design value networks.

 

Manufacturing Intelligence Methods and Tools (WP8) symbiotically address the Manufacturing Intelligence challenge, by defining three main topics to be studied and developed (assets as a service, realtime data stream processing and big data analytics) and implementing them in a conclusive mobile-enabled Symbiotic Manufacturing Intelligence Platform in product-service design value networks.

 

Architecture, Integration, Testing & Systems Deployment (WP9) is mostly concerned with coordination, integration and instantiation of the IT platforms developed inside the project. In the H2020 RIA spirit, Trials, Experimentation and Demonstrators (WP10) have not just the meaning of a proof of a Research concept, but they are also the basis for PSYMBIOSYS innovation action. 

 

PSYMBIOSYS impact awareness, dissemination and experimentation (WP11) include the activities related to dissemination and exploitation of project’s results. The main challenge here, again dictated by H2020, is to reconcile two different ways to conceive innovation: the IT-service viewpoint with its quick pace and young stakeholders and the Manufacturing-product viewpoint with its certified protocols and experimented engineering knowledge.
