NTUA (National Technical University of Athens) is the most prestigious and competitive academic institution on engineering sciences in Greece. The Decision Support Systems Laboratory (DSSLab) is a multidisciplinary scientific unit within the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, operating for more than 25 years, with international experience and offers R&D, consulting and training services addressing a wide range of complex research and application problems. The main areas of interest of DSSLab include Information Technology and Decision Support Systems with a specialization in Social Media Analysis and Social Analytics, e-Business and e-Government, Interoperability, Management Information Systems, Program & Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Training and Human Resources Development, Information Dissemination and Promotion, Energy and Environmental Policy.
The research conducted within DSSLab pursues novel methods, tools and infrastructure that have to do, amongst others, with hard to tackle issues and aspects around the social inclusion and engagement of end-users and customers in the complete product/service lifecycle and the extraction of information through social media networks, for boosting productivity of businesses by delivering intuitive and advanced analytics that exploit the latest advancements of information and communication technologies. In this context, DSSLab maintains a strong and lasting collaboration with enterprises, academic and research institutions, from Europe, Africa, Asia and the US that are working in the same domains. Moreover, as NTUA is an academic institution, it aims to channel the acquired know-how in the creation of vocational and academic and SME training material, and the implementation of high quality research work in these specific fields, promoting scientific excellence and advancing European research.
MAIN TASKS OF INVOLVEMENT
NTUA brings to PSYMBIOSYS its expertise on Social Media, Factories of the Future and Future Internet Applications and Systems in Enterprises. Based on its background, NTUA will lead WP5 “Symbiotic knowledge sharing - sentiment analysis in product-service value chains” that will provide the foundations needed for exploiting the concepts of knowledge sharing though different partners/collaborators and the sentiment analysis of the crowd, towards providing the necessary ingredients that will enable the coupling and the successful symbiosis of products and services along value chains, where different partners collaborate and external stakeholders influence the design and production.
Moreover, NTUA as having a vast experience on activities that handle requirements elicitation and modelling, definition of system architectures, and preparation of pilots, will also lead the task related to the preparation of the trial sites and their requirements analysis, as foreseen in WP10, while it will also assist the furniture trial, based on previous collaboration and excellent knowledge of the needs and the use case of that specific partner. Moreover, exploiting its international network of stakeholders and its knowhow in Web2.0 communication, NTUA will also be involved in WP10 “Impact Awareness and Exploitation”.
